Banners are the operational and specialized sub-units within Chapters. Each Banner represents a distinct role, profession, or calling within the Order. Members align with a Banner that reflects their skills, playstyle, and purpose in service to the Fallen Star.
Codex of the Fallen Star
This Codex reflects the will of the Fallen Star and governs all who serve beneath its light. The Primarchs' decree stands above all other law. What is written here is not suggestion — it is the foundation upon which the Order endures.
The Order stands above self, coin, and clan. All personal alliances, factions, and pursuits are secondary to the will and interests of the Order. Betrayal of the Order is the gravest offense and is judged by the Council of Ascension or the Primarch.
Authority flows downward through the chain of command. Responsibility and accountability flow upward. The Council of Ascension interprets the will of the Primarch and resolves disputes of authority. Bypassing the chain of command without just cause invites censure.
Each Knight may take up to two Pages under their guidance and prepare them for service as Squires and eventual Knighthood. Those entrusted with mentorship are expected to lead, train, and uphold standards. Failure to fulfill these duties may result in reassignment or the loss of mentorship privileges.
All sanctioned operations — whether conducted as Quests or Crusades — must be recorded in full, including participants, objectives, outcomes, spoils, and individual contributions. Records exist to ensure fairness, accountability, and the proper recognition of service.
Knowingly falsifying records is a severe offense and is investigated by Justicars and judged by the Council.
Members of the Order are expected to act with discipline, restraint, and respect for the Codex. Unjust harm toward non-combatants, allies, or neutral parties is forbidden unless explicitly sanctioned. Disputes within the Order are to be addressed through proper channels and not aired publicly.
All relics, banners, seals, and artifacts are the property of the Order. No such item may be claimed, sold, removed, or defiled without formal decree. Violations of this article are judged before the Council.
Justicars serve as investigators and enforcers of the Codex, gathering evidence and carrying out judgments. The Council of Ascension rules on major violations. The Primarch holds final authority and may issue binding decrees.
- Minor Violations — May be resolved by presiding officers.
- Intermediate Breaches — Reviewed by a Justicar and escalated when required.
- High Crimes (treason, falsification of records, relic theft) — Judged by the Council, subject to Primarch authority.
All spoils gained through sanctioned operations must be recorded in the appropriate quest or crusade record. Distribution is determined by documented contribution and service.
The Order recognizes an internal currency of copper, silver, and gold as a measure of service, time, and contribution. A tithe of ten percent is claimed by the Order prior to distribution to fund logistics, relic upkeep, and crusades.
Misrepresentation, concealment, or manipulation of spoils or currency is considered a serious violation of the Codex.
Operational plans, relic locations, and Council decrees are considered restricted unless formally authorized. The careless or deliberate disclosure of protected information is a major violation and is reviewed by the Council.
During moments of grave threat, Knights and those above them may act beyond normal permissions to preserve life, relics, or operational integrity. This authority may apply to both Quests and Crusades when circumstances demand immediate action.
All such actions must be recorded and are subject to review once the crisis has passed.
Advancement within the Order is earned through documented contribution, demonstrated merit, and proven capability. Trials of skill, leadership, doctrine, or service may be required. Advancement granted without merit is corruption and is punishable by demotion.
Minimum time-in-service requirements represent the standard path. Demonstrated merit may offset time-based requirements. All time waivers require Council review, must be supported by documented records, and may not bypass eligibility or oath requirements.
This Codex reflects the will of the Fallen Star and governs all who serve beneath its light. The Primarchs' decree stands above all other law. Amendments to the Codex require the approval of the Primarch or the unanimous consent of the Council of Ascension.
The Order recognizes two sanctioned forms of organized action. Both serve the Order and are governed by the Codex, but they differ in scale, intent, and authority.
- Impromptu or lightly planned operations
- Small to moderate number of members
- Practical, short-term, or exploratory objectives
- Initiated by Knights or higher authority
- Squires may act under direct Knight supervision
- Outcomes and spoils must be recorded
- Foundation of day-to-day service
- Planned in advance and formally sanctioned
- Broad assembly across ranks, Paths, or Chapters
- Strategic, ceremonial, or territorial objectives
- Initiated or approved by senior leadership
- Participation and outcomes formally reviewed
- Represent collective effort and unified purpose
- Advance long-term vision of the Order

Chapter Masters hold supreme authority within their Chapter, subject to the Codex, the Council, and the Primarchs. They oversee Lords, Lord Commanders, Commanders, and all subordinate ranks; approve major Crusades; appoint or remove Banner leadership; and represent the Chapter before the Council.
Eligibility: Must have served as a Lord Commander in good standing. In rare circumstances, a Lord may be elevated directly. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional leadership, stewardship, and adherence to the Codex.
Selection: Elected by community vote. A minimum of four members must formally join the Chapter before a vote may be held. Must swear the Sacred Oath of Ascension.
Inactivity: Thirty consecutive days triggers a formal warning and an additional thirty days to resume. Failure results in Chapter closure, Banner dissolution, and reversion to the rank of Lord.
Lord Commanders serve as senior stewards and Chapter representatives, exercising authority over multiple Banners and coordinating large-scale operations under the Chapter Master's direction.
Eligibility: Must be a current Lord in good standing with formal Chapter Master approval. Must demonstrate sound judgment and faithfully represent the Chapter.
Selection: Chapter-wide vote following Chapter Master nomination. Must have sworn the Sacred Oath of Ascension.
Lords mark entry into royal authority and stewardship. They govern beyond battlefield command — responsible for the people, law, and resources entrusted to them. Lords oversee Commanders and may contribute to Council deliberations.
Requirements: Advancement from Commander following Council review. Must swear the Sacred Oath of Royalty. Proven command experience and mastery of the Codex required.
Commanders hold operational leadership and Chapter-level coordination. They may command groups of up to sixteen members, establish new Banners with leadership approval, and coordinate Quests while supporting Crusades when delegated authority is granted.
Requirements: Standard sixty days time-in-service (subject to merit review), at least fifteen led Quests, and at least five led Crusades.
Templars serve as elite leaders and defenders of Codex standards. They may command groups of up to eight members, initiate and lead Crusades, and are responsible for safeguarding the fair distribution of spoils and currency.
Requirements: Minimum time-in-service (subject to merit review), at least ten led Quests and one supervised Crusade, demonstrated Codex mastery, and completion of at least one Profession Path.
Praetorians serve as the honor guard of the Order — protection of Chapter leadership and enforcement of doctrine when required. They act as a visible symbol of loyalty, discipline, and resolve. Praetorians do not command by rank alone, but by the trust placed in them through proven service.
Eligibility: The Iron Vigil Medal is required for consideration — signifying verified service in defense of the Chapter during moments of consequence. Completion of at least one Profession Path is required.
Selection: Identified and selected solely by the Chapter Master. Praetorians are chosen, not volunteered. Induction signifies acceptance of duty, not elevation of status.
Knights are full sworn members of the Order and form the foundation of its leadership. They may command groups of up to four members, mentor up to two Squires, and initiate Quests in accordance with the Codex.
Requirements: Minimum fifteen days as a Squire (subject to merit review), at least three supervised led Quests, formal endorsement from the Knight under whom they served, and the Sacred Oath of Knighthood.
Squires serve under direct mentorship in preparation for Knighthood. They assist Knights during Quests and Crusades and may co-lead Quests when explicitly authorized.
Eligibility: Selected directly by a Knight. Must have participated in at least three Quests or Crusades. Must demonstrate reliability, discipline, and willingness to learn.
Page (Rank I): Inducted members beginning their path within the Order. Granted limited access to Paths and internal currency systems and may participate in Quests and Crusades under supervision.
Commoner (Rank I-C): Recognized community members who do not participate in the rank structure. Access to social and community spaces with limited or no access to Path and currency systems. No command authority.
Serf (Rank 0): Observers not yet inducted into the Order. Access limited to public or introductory spaces only.
